Dr. Nathan Pekar, MD

Family medicine · Victory Medical, Austin, Texas

Dr. Pekar is the Maier family’s doctor and the team physician for Mitchell and Melanie, helping them optimize their health and wellness on and off the course. A family physician since 2001 and board certified in family medicine, he has practiced at Victory Medical in Austin since 2009. He earned his M.D. at UT Southwestern Medical School and completed his family medicine residency at Saint Louis University.

A big college football fan, he calls himself an “AgHorn”: a Texas A&M Aggie who has become a Longhorn while living in Austin. He was also one of GolfDoc’s first golf buddies back in middle school. The two played Cedar Crest Golf Course in south Dallas, the A.W. Tillinghast course where Walter Hagen won the 1927 PGA Championship, his fourth straight PGA title. During that championship a teenage Byron Nelson, following Hagen from the gallery, famously lent him his cap to shade his eyes for a shot.
